Whether you run a business from hotels and airplanes or manage projects from an office desk that never seems to empty, the daily struggle can be the same: the work that actually moves things forward constantly gets tripped up by a pile of routine yet vital duties. Tasks like triaging email, summarizing meetings and calls, drafting content, and managing client communications can all be essential for keeping operations running on all cylinders, but just because tasks are important doesn’t mean you have time for them. Routine items can swallow hours that would be better spent on strategy, problem-solving, and the high-value work only you can do. 

Local AI-enhanced tools can rebalance the time equation in your favor. By running AI directly on your PC to automate and accelerate routine tasks, you can claw back significant chunks of time while keeping sensitive data on the device, working through inconsistent connectivity, and avoiding recurring cloud subscription fees—all while freeing mental focus for the skills that set your business apart in the marketplace. But you need AI-capable gear to make that transition. New AI PCs powered by AMD Ryzen AI processors may be the hardware that makes it happen. 

To measure what local AI can deliver for two types of professionals—highly mobile digital nomads and desktop power users—we ran real-world scenarios on two AMD Ryzen AI systems and compared them against both older hardware and manual methods. For the digital nomads, we tested an HP OmniBook X Flip 16 Next Gen AI PC with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 465 processor across six common mobile work scenarios, from generating tasks out of emails to making travel plans. For the desk-bound power users, we tested an HP EliteDesk 8 SFF G2a desktop with an AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450G processor across five project management scenarios, including reviewing Jira tickets and managing client communication. In both studies, we compared AI-assisted workflows on the new system against manual approaches, then estimated real-world task frequency to show how the savings accumulate over a workweek. 

Across all of the scenarios we tested, we saw dramatic time savings with AI-facilitated workflows. On the AI laptop, local AI cut individual task times by as much as 98.5 percent, collapsing a full workflow that took more than 8 hours down to under 15 minutes—an estimated savings of nearly 16 hours per week, close to two full workdays. On the AI desktop, AI reduced task time by up to 96.3 percent and gave project managers back roughly 18 hours each week, more than two workdays. Both systems also delivered higher Procyon Office Productivity scores while running a local LLM—up to 39.2 percent higher than the older machines—in large part by offloading AI work to a dedicated NPU. The results from our testing could not be clearer: whether a professional is constantly on the go or does the majority of work at their desk, AMD Ryzen AI processor-powered PCs can condense hours of routine busywork down to minutes, freeing time for the higher-value work that can help businesses get and stay ahead in a competitive marketplace.
